My friends, brothers and fellow Sir Knights James Dillman, Gary Messer and Carson Smith of Indianapolis have all been duly elected today for reception into Indiana Priory No. 8 of the Knights of the York Cross of Honour (KYCH). All three have served as the presiding officers of the downtown Indianapolis York Rite bodies: Indianapolis Chapter No. 5, Royal Arch Masons; Indianapolis Council No. 2, Cryptic Masons; and Raper Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar.
I would add that all three of these brethren are also active members of Imhotep Council No. 434 Allied Masonic Degrees, and enthusiastic participants in Levant Preceptory, Indiana's medieval Knights Templar period recreation degree group.
A proposed candidate for the KYCH must have presided as the Master of a Masonic lodge, High Priest of a Royal Arch Chapter, Illustrious Master of a Cryptic Council, and Commander of a Knight Templar Commandery. Being awarded the Knight of the York Cross of Honour is recognition of the tremendous commitment of time, effort and leadership required to serve each of these organizations.
Congratulations, my friends, for honors well deserved. Thanks from all of your brethren to the three of you for your tireless devotion and efforts for the downtown Indianapolis York Rite bodies, and for York Rite Freemasonry throughout Indiana.
Indiana Priory No. 8 is the oldest KYCH Priory in the State of Indiana.
