No, the White House has NOT caved on border wall funding (yet): Sanders

(National SentinelBuild It: As reports circulated Tuesday that POTUS Donald Trump had “caved” to Democratic and RINO pressures to drop his demand for $5 billion in border wall funding or he’s ready to let at least part of the government shut down, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders clarified the White House’s position.

Which is essentially this: Let’s not jump to conclusions.

“You know, at this point, the Senate’s thrown out a lot of ideas. We’re disappointed in the fact that they’ve yet to actually vote on something and pass something. So, when they do that, we’ll make a determination on whether or not we’re going to sign that,” Sanders told reporters this morning during a briefing.

She also added that the president has tasked all his Cabinet secretaries to come up with ways to fund border security and the wall.

“The president’s asked every one of his Cabinet secretaries to look for funding that can be used to protect our borders, and for the — give the president the ability to fulfill his constitutional obligation to protect the American people by having a secure border,” she noted.

“So, we’re looking at the other options. In the meantime, we’ll see what the Senate does, and we’ll let you know when we have an announcement on that front.”

Recall, too, that the president has asked the Pentagon to increase its FY 2019 budget request, in part due to his pledge to use Defense Department funds to build at least part of the wall.

“If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country,” Trump wrote on Twitter, “the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall.”

The president understands that he promised his base he’ll get the wall built. But he’s getting major pushback from everyone in D.C. because no one wants that wall to go up — because no one wants to give POTUS a win on a signature issue.

It’s not about border security with the Washington Swamp; it’s about denying Trump, even if it means harming the country.
