Andrew Napolitano: ‘I expect Don Jr. to be indicted by Robert Mueller’

(National SentinelFireworks: Judge Andrew Napolitano said Wednesday that he believes special counsel Robert Mueller will indict Donald Trump Jr. on allegations that he made false statements to Congress.

The Fox News legal analyst made his prediction during an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Dan Abrams Show” a day after Mueller recommended that POTUS Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, receive no jail time after providing “substantial assistance” to the ‘Russian collusion’ probe and another unnamed criminal investigation.

When asked if he expects anyone in the president’s inner circle to be charged, Napolitano said, “Yes. I don’t know who, but I do know that Donald Jr. has told friends he expects to be indicted.”

“Do you expect he’d be indicted?” Abrams asked.

“Yes,” Napolitano said.

Last month, Vanity Fair reported that Trump Jr. had speculated to someone close to him he believed that Mueller would indict him for making false statements to the FBI and Congress regarding the infamous Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer and other Russian officials in New York City in June 2016.

Vanity Fair reported last month that Trump Jr. speculated that Mueller could indict him for making false statements to the FBI and Congress about the infamous Trump Tower meeting with the Russians in June 2016.

The Washington Examiner noted:

Trump Jr.’s legal exposure arises from statements he gave congressional and federal investigators about what he told his father before the meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya and others. The circumstances surrounding the meeting were further muddled when, in an explanatory statement issued in July 2017 after the meeting first came to light, Trump Jr. said it was primarily about Russian adoptions.

Trump Jr.’s lawyer Alan Futerfas pushed back at the report, telling Vanity Fair “there is absolutely no truth to these rumors.”

“The president himself should be extremely uncomfortable about this,” Napolitano said regarding the latest developments in Mueller’s wide-ranging probe.

An indictment, if it came, would likely enrage POTUS Trump. It would also be extremely disruptive to his ability to govern.
