Russian Kazan submarine conducts Kalibr missile live-firing in White Sea

The Project 885M Yasen-M class lead submarine Kazan (NATO reporting name: Severodvinsk-class) has fired its main missile system against a coastal target during state trials, the Defense Ministry’s press office said : “The missile live-firing was conducted during a final stage of the submarine’s state trials in the White Sea. A cruise missile of the Kalibr [SS-N-27 Sizzler] missile system hit a coastal target set up at the Chizha training range in the Arkhangelsk Region [in north Russia] at a distance of more than 1,000 km [621 mi]”. Ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet’s White Sea naval base cordoned off the area.
