Meadows: Three Clinton Foundation whistleblowers with ‘EXPLOSIVE’ info will testify this week

(National SentinelHail Mary: The chairman of the House Freedom Caucus said Tuesday that no fewer than three whistleblowers with “explosive” information regarding the Clinton Foundation are set to testify before a House committee this week.

During an appearance on Fox News with host Martha McCallum, Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., discussed the year-long investigation of Utah federal prosecutor John Huber, whom former Attorney General Jeff Sessions tasked earlier this year to look into alleged nefarious activities involving the foundation.

“They [whistleblowers] have 6,000 pages of evidence that they’ve gone through,” McCallum said. “The foundation raised $2.5 billion, and they’re looking into potential improprieties. What’s next on this investigation?”

“Well, I think for the American people, they want to bring some closure, not just a few sound bites, here or there, so we’re going to be having a hearing this week, not only covering over some of those 6,000 pages that you’re talking about, but hearing directly from three whistleblowers that have actually spent the majority of the last two years investigating this,” Meadows said.

“Some of the allegations they make are quite explosive, Martha and as we just look at the contributions — now everybody’s focused on the contributions for the Clinton Foundation and what has happened just in the last year, but if you look at it, you know, it had a very strong rise, the minute [Hillary Clinton] was selected as Secretary of State — then it dipped down when she was no longer there and then rose again, when she decided to run for president. So there’s all kinds of allegations of you know, pay-to-play and that kind of thing,” he added.

Watch:

Clinton stepped down from the State Department in 2013 to prepare for her 2016 bid. Donations spiked after she announced but then fell dramatically after she lost, according to tax records.

In January, The Hill reported that the FBI had launched a new investigation into potential “pay-for-play” allegations involving foreign donors to the foundation in the hopes of receiving special attention from Hillary if she had beaten POTUS Donald Trump, as most of official Washington expected.

In an interview with TheHill.TV last month, Meadows, who also chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Government Operations, said it was time for Congress to “circle back” to Huber and find out what he’s been up to.

“Mr. Huber with the Department of Justice and FBI has been having an investigation — at least part of his task was to look at the Clinton Foundation and what may or may not have happened as it relates to improper activity with that charitable foundation,” Meadows said, noting that initially a hearing date had been set for Dec. 5.

Last week, The Hill‘s John Solomon reported that a bombshell analysis from 2017 by a private firm found “probable cause” to suspect the foundation ran afoul of tax laws.

At the time Sessions named Huber to look into the Clinton Foundation and other matters related to the Clintons, he called him a “special counsel in every way but name.”

As reported by The Washington Times, Huber has all the authority of a special prosecutor: He can convene a grand jury, issue subpoenas, collect evidence and order witnesses to testify, all the usual authority granted both to special counsels and U.S. prosecutors.

Huber may need all of his authority “as he delves into whether the FBI abused its powers when it sought permission and then carried out wiretapping of a Trump campaign figure, or whether it trod too lightly in pursuing questions about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton” regarding her mishandling of classified email, the Times reported.
