Elon Musk on Thursday announced he is leaving President Trump’s business advisory council in response to withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris climate accord. “Am departing presidential councils. Climate change is real. Leaving Paris is not good for America or the world,” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO tweeted shortly after Trump announced the move during a Rose Garden speech.
Musk was one of 18 business leaders on Trump’s business advisory council known as the Strategic and Policy Forum. On Wednesday, he threatened his exit in the event of a Paris withdrawal by tweeting that he would “have no choice but to depart [the] councils in that case.”
