The machines were made before to accelerate different particles for the purpose of experiments and research, but the most powerful particle accelerator ever built is, The Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It contains an accelerating design which helps to boost the energy of particles in the chamber and a 16 miles (27 km) long ring made of superconducting magnets. . In the accelerator, two high energy particle beams at speeds almost equals to speed of light, forced to collide from opposite directions.
When the collision occurs, the energy densities are created and cause ordinary matter melt into its integral parts, quarks and gluons. This allows scientists to interrogate the basic elements of matter–the fundamental particles of the Standard Model.
It is quite surprising that more than 10,000 scientists and engineers are currently working together, have brought about some inspiring discoveries.
The LHC is the largest international scientific collaboration in history as scientists from than 85 countries participated in LHC and experiments at European laboratory CERN. This is reason, why we cannot underestimate the importance of international collaboration.
They discovered the Higgs Boson, host of new particles and potentially disproving the existence of the paranormal.
A paper proved that these discoveries aren't slowing down.
A new system of five particles all in a single analysis has been discovered, with the help of The Large Hadron Collider beauty experiment(LHCb).
These particle states are named, according to the standard convention, Ωc(3000)0, Ωc(3050)0, Ωc(3066)0, Ωc(3090)0 and Ωc(3119)0. All these particles were found to be excited states of Omega-c-zero, a particle with three quarks.
The work that is needed, is to find the quantum number and theoretical consequence of these new particles. This will all add to our understanding of the correlation between quarks, and multi-quark states, which will further the way we comprehend our universe and quantum theory in general.
CERN called this “a hotbed of new and outstanding physics results.” And it’s just the beginning because more experiments and results are on their way.
This expermaents also helps in other ways like the possibility to prove the existence of higher dimensions is now very high. As such, perhaps it is no surprise that it is leading to a new era in physics and opening new doors in our understanding of the universe.
Dark matter, parallel dimensions, and what happened during the earliest moments of the Big Bang are the greatest cosmic mysteries for us, over the coming months and years, the LHC will use its amazing amount of energy to open up the “dark sector of physics,” revealing currently unknown particles and helping solve some of these cosmic mysteries.
