I'm not generally a big fan of Buzzfeed, but a nice piece was put up today by a photographer in London of 23 of that city's brethren, with a brief paragraph by each one describing their best personal experience in the Craft, or telling how or why they decided to become a Freemason. Photographer Laura Gallant is doing a multi-part photo series for the United Grand Lodge of England's 300 year celebration of the official founding of the fraternity, and this is a part of it.

On a slightly different note, according to the December address by their Pro Grand Master, Peter Lowndes, the UGLE is apparently being plagued by someone selling cheap knock-offs of the official Tercentenary jewel struck by Toye Kenning & Spencer. That's one of the big drawbacks to the proliferation over the last decade of inexpensive suppliers of Masonic regalia and supplies (many from Pakistan, but plenty of others). Authentic versions of the jewel from Toye come in four variations that run the gamut from as low as just £25 for the gilt one, all the way up to a whopping £4,000 for the special edition, 18 karat gold, hand finished one, if that's what floats your boat. Don't be an ass to save a little money by buying a phony that only cheats both Toye and the Grand Lodge. (And if you do, who can you brag to about getting it "on sale?")
