Heli-One has developed repair capability for the Sikorsky S-92 air inlet, said the MRO provider. According to a press release, the air inlet was identified as a top contributor to aircraft-on-ground events for the S-92. The component was found to have inconsistent failure times, long external repair turnaround time (TAT) and high replacement cost. This new repair capability allows Heli-One to offer operators repairs with TATs reduced by more than a month and at nearly half the cost.
Development of this repair included a customized test bench, tooling and power supply. This testing capability allows technicians to maintain control over the repair process and to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in-house, which contributes to the low TAT. With the introduction of this new capability, Heli-One has increased its inventory of service-ready air inlets available for immediate exchange, further minimizing downtime.
